Wanda’s Web

There may or may not be a hobbit in one of those web sacs. – moi

My coworker Wanda asked me to draw one of her favorite comics in “Eric Style,” and I told her I would work on it this weekend. Tonight I thought I would honor the request.

The drawing is inspired by Chad Carpenter’s Tundra Comic Strip.

One thing I’ve been trying creating better backgrounds. If you notice the majority of my backgrounds are simple or one color. I have been playing with the blur tool to create interesting effects. My first attempt was yesterday’s piece Profite du Coucher de Soleil.

For Wanda’s Web I wanted a bit more control on the outcome and used a purple palette I googled. You can see the palette below.

Full disclosure Wanda’s Web was created on May 19th and my project post made it out on time. However, this blog is coming out on May 20th due to having a family emergency I couldn’t complete my blog in time. Long story short my husband needed his appendix removed and this all took place in the last 24 hours.

He’s okay now and resting thank goodness.

Pike one please: Black Hawks or Transformers?? – moi

This is a special piece for my friend Jason Feld. I promised I would make him something, and today I wanted to honor that promise.

From start to finish this took me approx. 2.5 hours. I can tell I am getting quicker with my work.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is coming out in less than a week and I wanted to add this fandom into the piece since I know he’s a fan. I almost added Homer Simpson, but it didn’t feel right. I wasn’t sure what I wanted to put on his shirt and so I messaged him.

Today’s quote was a text to Jason asking him to pick Black Hawks or Transformers. He chose transformers and I found a picture he wore when we attended Denver Comic Con 2016.

Below is the original sketch. I ended up making Groot smaller, and you can see the Homer Simpson I almost started to draw. Thanks for reading!

Mam Bananas

Sir Bananas is my new addiction! – moi

During my most recent trip to the grocery store I stumbled upon Sir Bananas Bananamilk. I love bananas; I was intrigued and put a carton in my basket. It wasn’t until the following day I poured a glass and tried it.

At first the taste reminded me of eggnog, but without a weird aftertaste I would get from eggnog and not too sweet. The banana flavor is totally there, it’s smooth, and I can imagine some amazing baking recipes using this beverage in place of milk for those who want a hint of banana flavor.

If you are a banana fan  you are really in for a treat, and I highly recommend buying a carton. I’ve bought two more cartons since, and I need to make a special note to try the chocolate version.

As I think about what to draw tonight enjoying my magical beverage I am inspired by their adorable monkey mascot. I talked to my husband about how the art style is similar to my own. Tonight I decided to draw him a friend!
